AOK opposes industrial wind farm

Duty to Consult First Nations

Here is a link describing AOK First Nations position on the project. Note Northland Powers lack of response and Mayor Jim Stringer’s apparent lack of concern over the neighbouring First Nation’s position.

Here is a very touching speech made by Hunter Abotossaway Grade 6 Student LCPS and presented to his class. It clearly describes the perspective of a First Nation young man and the next generation.

Update:     The Elders of Wikwimikong are now working with other Island First Nations to stop all Industrial Wind development on Manitoulin Island. Their movement is quickly starting to spread based on a petition calling for NO Industrial Wind Development on Manitoulin and surrounding traditional lands.

Incomplete Environmental Screening

Several hundred individual submissions were made to the MOE over a period of 2 months in the summer of ‘09 documenting errors and inadequacies in the initial environmental screening process for the Northland Mcleans Mtn. project. We were told that this was more requests than MOE had ever received for an ESR on an industial wind farm. These requests are now being scrapped due to the fact that the Northland application will now be treated under the new GEA guidelines.
